Hadith I

Our course begins with the important of the Hadith in our Islamic Belief and we will analyze each of the Forty Hadith Al Nawawi: a collection of Authentic Hadith (1-20) (actions and sayings) of the Prophet Mohamed saws. These ahadith are essential and hold comprehensive teachings of Islam covering areas of faith such as belief, morality, and serves as a practical guide for a muslima. Subjects mentioned are sincerity, kindness, and the importance of maintaining good character. Important things such as acts of worship, ethics, and interpersonal relationships are covered as well. This class provides a great resource to deepen understanding and practice in Islam. Students will examine each hadith to understand the contextual environment of it, scholars opinions and rulings derived from it, how the hadith is revelant in current times, and how to apply the Hadith in our everyday lives. Imam Nawawi's biography will also be discussed. Narrarators of the Hadiths will be briefly discussed. We will memorize some of the shorter hadith for those who would like to benefit.
